CHAPTER 11 - Blake Geffen
Meet Blake Geffen: mother, wife, entrepreneur, and founder of luxury accessories rental company Vivrelle. Somehow, she finds time to do it all—luxury fashion by day, bedtime stories by night. We caught up with Blake to talk about what evenings look like in her house, the routines that help everyone wind down, and how a few of her favorite Little Room Supply pieces have found their way into bedtime.

For Blake, winding down starts early. By dinner, everyone has already had a very full day. “Most nights, we’re essentially living out every meme of kids bouncing off the walls at dinnertime,” Blake says. But amid the chaos, it’s their first chance to all be together. Baths usually happen by 6, signaling that the busy part of the day is winding down.

After dinner and baths, everyone gathers on the couch to play, talk, and just be together. The kids get about fifteen minutes of screen time before heading upstairs—nothing fancy, but enough to help everyone shift into bedtime mode. Sometimes they’ll end with a book together.

Then comes bedtime. And in the Geffen house, there’s a system.
Who Goes First?
“Our bedtime order is based on who woke up first that morning. The rule is simple: if you woke up first, you go to bed first. They know the system, and somehow, it works.”
One at a Time
Blake and her husband make bedtime one-on-one time. They both walk each child upstairs for a little talking, snuggling, and catching up before Dad heads back down to the others.
“It may not be the traditional bedtime routine, but it works for our family.”
Each child also picks out an outfit for the next day and lays everything out for the morning. “Anything we can do tonight to make tomorrow easier is a win.”

The Little Things
Then come the rituals: teeth brushed, pajamas on, a little talking, reading, and a back rub.
“These are the tiny rituals that have become part of our nights and the moments they’ll hopefully remember long after they’ve outgrown needing us at bedtime.”
With three children, the whole routine takes about forty minutes to an hour. “One child at a time, one conversation at a time, one goodnight at a time.”
It doesn’t look exactly the same every night, but after days that move a hundred miles an hour, bedtime gives the Geffens a chance to slow down, reconnect, and end the day together.

And One Last Question…
We couldn’t let the founder of Vivrelle go without asking: What bag would you match to your daughter’s room and its fun, pink vibe?
“A pink quilted Chanel matches the vibe of her room perfectly! Maybe something big, like a jumbo classic or a tote, to be sure I can carry everything I need day-to-day.”
Because apparently even bedtime has an accessory.
